This Camper Van Drives Kids’ Imaginations

(DGIwire) – Just about every suburban parent can attest to shrieking the words, “Go outside and play!” to their children. Outside time doesn’t just give Mom and Dad a break—it may be good for the kids as well. It gets a little worrisome to calculate the amount of daily screen time children get, between the iPad, computer, phone and television. Is all this time spent on electronics having a negative impact?

In a recent New York Times article, Dr. Delaney Ruston, a filmmaker, Stanford-trained physician and mother of two, discussed her new documentary, Screenagers, and the impact of screen time on children. The excessive use of screens could harm the physical development of young people’s brains, Dr. Ruston said, citing studies showing a correlation between too much screen time and reduced attention spans, as well as negative effects on learning.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends children should engage with entertainment media for no more than one or two hours per day, and that should be high-quality content. It is important for kids to spend time on outdoor play, reading, hobbies and using their imaginations in free play.

That’s why we at ReviewLoft—especially those of us with small children—are so glad that a manufacturer of unique products, The Monster Factory, dedicated itself to jumpstarting kids’ imaginations by creating a pop-up tent that resembles the iconic 1965 split screen VW camper van. The van created a lot of great memories for many prior generations, and The Monster Factory wants it to continue to do so.

The tent, which has UV protection and is waterproof, is great to bring to the beach or backyard but can just as easily be assembled in a living room on a rainy day—or any day! Bonus: every clean sheet and blanket in the house no longer needs to be dirtied up to make a fort!

The VW Camper Van Play Tent allows children a new adventure every time it is set up, because one never knows where they are going. To Grandma’s house, Disney World, the jungle: it is absolutely amazing to see where kids’ imaginations will take them. The van can comfortably sit three children and is recommended for ages three and up. The Monster Factory knows that every child has a favorite color, so one can choose from blue, red, pink, yellow and orange.

The next time when a gift for a child is needed, bypass the electronics—they have enough!—and give a gift that will put them on the road to adventure. ReviewLoft votes for the VW Camper Van Play Tent.
